MY MO'OLELO

Hi! My name is Alena Estomago and this is my story/mo'olelo. My name is Hawaiian and it means Alan- trust me, I know- so I was named after my Uncle Alan because when my mom was pregnant with me, she was always around him and I would never stop kicking. He is represented using the "L" in my picture. I was born and raised on the west side, known for its beautiful sunsets which is what I decided to put into the space in my "E." I was born into a very religious family and my whole family is Christians yet I am a self declared Christian which is represented by the cross in the "N." Remember how I said that I was named after my Uncle but my name is Hawaiian? My mom- the day I was born- was standing in line in a store and saw a Hawaiian name book by the register and immediately looked up "Alan" which obviously gave her my name- Alena. This story is represented by the books in the space of my "A." I grew up around musicians and actually come from a long line of singers so I decided to include a music note at the end. When I was asking around to my friends and family about my "gift" most told me that I am very genuine but they also said that they appreciated how grounded I am. I am very- for lack of a better term- unbothered by many things so I thought roots would be a good addition. My background, the mountains, are actually based off of the ones here in Nanakuli Valley, my home. This was my first project so I didn't know how to really do this project to the standards I have now. I hope that this lets you get to know me better! I promise I'm not as mean as I look !
